A K-pop Debate

Hi fellow veiwers today I have another debate because this time Im here to make a stable debate on why you should stop stereotyping K-pop and its idols, fans, and groups. First of all im going to state my reasons and a little  bit about them. "Why you should stop stereotyping K-pop¨ begins now.

1. Most K-pop fans dont like k-pop, they only do that for show.

You may think thats true but I have proof in words and photos. Most K-pop fans are so inspired by their idol/s they set up a charity fund to feed poverty. Once, BTS, Enhypen and much more fans matched a 1.million dollar donation to feed the poor. Think thats not true? Here is proof: K-pop Donation To Poverty.
2. K-pop is cringe, overrated, and all bad.
Yeah I know that some idols had a problematic past, but have you ever wondered why? Most fans send death threats to them and they end up doing s**cide. ( K-pop may be cringe in your opinion ) But there is more that meets the eye to its fame, and more.
Kpop idols put their entire childhood away and begin as a trainee at 13. Yet they a few still make their debut. K-pop idols have said many powerful things to its haters. But its your opinion, not mine.
3. Most K-pop idols got plastic surgery.
Ok, 10, percent of the k-pop industry had plastic surgery. But do you know why that is? Most companies are great and are fair with their idol/group but entertainments such as ( not gonna name them ). The entertainments force idols of overwork themselves and have a perfect image. The idol becomes insicure of his/her body.
4. K-pop is just music and dancing.
It may just be that but as I said before theirs more that meets the eye. They have meaningful lyrics and powerful vocals. Just like the Grammy´s, Their is also MAMA´s ( Mnet asian music awards ) K-pop idols also do fun and chaotic things. When I first liked k-pop I thought it was just going to be fun and game. Once I found out its true side, I decided I will support them till the end.

I hope you enjoy my statements and that you have to stop stereotyping us. If you just gave k-pop a chance, I gaurantee you, you wont regret it. I have gotten alot of stereotypes, but I just wanted to list the ones I could to express how I felt. If your interested in getting into kpop, click here to find out a brief image on k-pop:

Problem Solving Maths Equations

Hi Fellow viewers,Have you ever tried solving your own question? Because today Kea had to come up with a question and turn it into a math problem. This included showing 3 strategies of how we worked it out. I only could come up with 2 because I used Division of Fractions as my equation.

I included a recording of my working out on a whiteboard so you could see what I was trying to explain. I found it hard to explain it on the slides so my 2 recordings are there. I used this method because I wanted to challenge myself.

Do you know how to solve division of fractions? If so where did you learn it and do you have a similar way of solving it as did I?

Debate on Guy Fawkes

Hi fellow veiwers today I have come across with a debating situation. Have you ever heard of Guy Fawkes? Guy Fawkes is a tradition in New Zealand. They celebrate with fireworks. But the question is - should New Zealanders be able to celebrate Guy Fawkes? My answers is yes, and no. I think it should be celebrate, but with a different approach; here are my reasons why.

The Origins of Diwali.

Hi fellow veiwers today we read a story called Rama and Sita. Our task was to retell the story of Rama and Sita. What I also noticed was that at the end of the story it told us how this battle was the origin of Diwali!. Here is my slides of how I retold Rama and Sita.

Diwali Celebration: Rangoli Customs

Hi Bloggers today we learned about Rangoli and the Indian Traditions. India is very famous for its amazing attractions, food, and festival of lights. Now you may be wondering : What is this festival of lights? Well, its called Diwali as from the title itself. Diwali is a celebration of how natives want to to start fresh. They celebrate this for many reasons, one of them is to bring light over darkness and good over evil. Diwai is called the festival of lights because it has so many lanterns, candles and more.

Did you know that there is a godess in India called Lakshmi? This godess is there to becuase she is a godess of wealth, luck, power and more?

During Diwali often people use  rangoli to make patterns. Rangoli is a grounded rice. Todays task was to create a pattern from stuff around our environment. I couldn't find the right leave so I drew it on paper. But sadly that turned into a mess So I thought why not describe what it looks like.

My pattern was mixed- not with colours but with patterns. I looked up on Indian and Diwali patterns on google and found so many bright, and vibrant patterns. I took a look at one and decided to let some other patterns in on the art.

I hope you enjoy my blog post and fun facts about Diwali.

Aliteration Poems

Hi fellow bloggers! Today we learned about aliteration poems. An aliteration poem is when you use one letter as your main word throughout your whole poem. Our challenge was to make an aliteration poem about someone who inspires us. I wrote mine on BTS. This poem signify how much they mean to me. Though through your point of view, they may just be 7 korean boys, but to their fans, they are our family. I've made 2 copies of this poem to show you aliteration and BTS words.

Poem:

Bangtan Sonyeondan. Bright lights, Bighit, Breaking Records with big songs. Went through hardships, now an inspiration to many. Bulletproof boy scouts; all 7. Many backgrounds but one story. They put their blood, sweat, and tears into song for us ARMY's. They give us the best of them. Bangtan may be just BTS to you, But to others, their bulletproof.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

Purple = Aliteration    Blue = BTS words.     Green= Both

Fear Factor: Adjectives.

Kia ora fellow bloggers. Today we were learning all about how we can use adjectives to describe many different things. Adjectives are a type of word used to describe the taste, smell, sound, texture, presence. We had to make a list of different foods to give our parents then let them describe what it taste, smells, and feels like.

Here is what my chart says. ( Tested this on my brother ).

Hyperboles: The worlds best exagerations.

Kia Ora Bloggers! Today is our first day back to online school since we had a 3 day weekend. If I haven't told you before we change our workshops every week. We also choose the winning workshop based on the amount of work they have been producing. Today I am still in waka Tahi - but with another teacher.

Our lesson today was to create our own hyperbole. A hyperbole is a type of exageration used in everyday sentences, songs, poems, and more. An example of an exageration is: It was raining cats and dogs. This refers to when its raining so hard.

Here is my 3 hyperboles. I hope you enjoy.

Unboxing Robert Frost: American Poet.

Hi fellow veiwers. Today im going to tell you all about Robert Frost the American Poet. Robert frost wrote the Poem " Nothing Gold Can Stay ". He first wrote poems in America then his work was later published in England. Robert Frost was named after Confederate General Rober E. Lee. Here are some fun facts about Robert Frost:

  1. His father was a teacher and later an editor of the San Francisco Evening Bulletin and his mother was a Scottish immigrant. His mother joined the Swedenborgian church (based on the writings of Emanuel Swedenborg) and had him involved in it.
  2.  As a young boy, he loved his mother reading to him and from this, he was inspired to become an accomplished writer. Furthermore, this initiated him to an extensive array of literature,
  3. During his lifetime, he would receive more than 40 honorary degrees, plus, he is the only person who has won the Pulitzer Prize for poetry four times: in 1924, 1931, 1937 and 1943.
  4.  He was the first poet in history to recite a poem at a Presidential inauguration. In 1961, at the age of 87, he was asked to write a poem at the John F. Kennedy inauguration. Although he had written a new poem expressly for the event, he was unable to read it on that day due to the glaring sun. He ended up reciting from memory “The Gift Outright.”

  5.  He and his spouse moved to England in 1912, after they failed at farming in New Hampshire. Moreover, he was not finding success with publishing his poems, therefore, the couple moved to England due to the vast range of publishers. In England, he met and was influenced by Robert Graves and Rupert Brooke.
  6.  He was also introduced to Ezra Pound (an American critic and poet) who helped to promote and publish his work.
  7.  He and his wife Elinor were parents to two sons (Elliott and Carol) and four daughters (Lesley, Irma, Marjorie, and Elinor Bettina). They stayed outside of London, into a cottage in Beaconsfield.
I hope you enjoyed my facts about Robert Frost. He was an amazing Poet but sadly passed away in the late 1800's. My challenge for you is to write a comment about something you know about Robert Frost or one of his poems.

Smart footprint - Who I Am.

Hello fellow veiwers! Today I am posting my " All about me" since i forgot to do it on Monday. Basically an all about me tells the people around you who you are, what you like, your hobbies, and so much more! There is some stuff you can and cannot post on your all about me though. You can post anything non-confidential such as your favorite song, your hobbies, ETC. What you cannot post are the things like your address, your last name, your passwords ETC.

Ive made a little introduction in my about me so you can know few things about me. I hope you enjoy. If you have any questions about me you can write them in the comments.

Personification Poetry

Kia ora bloggers! Today I was so eager to do todays task. It was all about personification poems. Personification is when you write a poem about a non living object to make it feel real. I've made two poems: Spring has fallen and A persons heart ( from someones perspective ).  Here are the recordings of my two poems:

A persons heart: https://watch.screencastify.com/v/N9m0mdZ9ipgi7Ao3UyXy .  ->

I made the poem " A persons heart " Because I wanted to signify how people get heartbroken. Its ok to be and feel that way. I also wanted to add something in their that said " people deserve a second chance just not for the same mistakes " Meaning that if you have been broken before and you want to trust another person but your too scared. Remember that scars heal. You can trust a person again but if they do they wrong, just have faith and when you will find the right person its yours to be destined.

Spring has fallen: https://watch.screencastify.com/v/bd3GSMoBWir0gKpgkIx4.       ->

I made the poem " Spring has fallen" because I wanted to show 2 things: my love for autumn/fall and how we need to get used to change slowly when the time is right. Sometimes things happen quite quickly and before you know it, its time to let go and say goodbye. I had to do the same. Saying goodbye to my old friends, and my old school was quite hard. But coming here made me feel different. I found new friends but still dont forget about the old. This poem was to signify how you have to leave the past behind but make way for the future; because when there i a down there is a up.

I hope you enjoyed my two poems. I really enjoyed making my poems, It felt as if it was really going to put another outlook on the world.

Density of Water

Hello Bloggers today was the first day of term 4. We had a 2 week holiday before we all got to do distance learning again. Today's challenge was super exciting. We had to see which water is denser. Since we didn't have freshwater or saltwater we had to use hot water or cold water. We could also use salt or baking soda to make it more fun. But before we get into the experiment - I have to tell you about our new challenges. We have been put into groups/breakouts for the week. We have to earn points by sharing, posting on our blog, and participating.

Im in Group tahi with Whaea Ocea. But onto the experiment, my hypothesis was that the object would float or sink slowly in cold water because it has a density of (32°F/0°C). So my group made a slideshow of our thinking. Here is a photo of my experiment and my slide with thinking:

( Two coins in water; Right hand side is the cold water, and the left hand side is the hot water. )
So my question for you is what do you think has the better density? And why?

Recreating Famous Structure in Minecraft

Hi Bloggers today I had another Minecraft challenge. The whole Kea team had to recreate a famous structure/s in minecraft. We had a varoius display of options such as the leaning Tower, Great Wall of China, and so much more.

I made the Sky Tower located here in Auckland. It wasn't perfectly shaped because I forgot to watch the tutorial. It was hard to keep on re-shaping my build but it was easy to find the right combinations of blocks.

Here is the video of my structure. I hope you enjoy!

Minecraft Room Building

Kia Ora fellow veiwers today Kea had a Minecraft challenge. It was to contruct and design a lookalike of your room on Minecraft. Me and Belinda worked together and made both our rooms on a building. We even added a study room for fun. It was a bit challenging becuase I got to get the measurements of my room and do the same with my Minecrafts build. Its not exactly like my room but that's fine because I got some stuff close to the furniture in my room.

Here is a screencastify of a tour and what it is enjoy:

Family Game Night

Hello Fellow viewers! Today is another day of lockdown which means it's time to receive another digital task. This task was to create a game for you and your bubble to play. Today I have created a game of which you have to guess the BTS and Stray Kids member close up. The rules are simple:

  1. A part of their face or anything with them will be shown
  2. Click on the button with the person you think it is.
  3. If its incorrect you will have a button to press to go back
  4. Once you reach the end you celebrate!
Here is the slides. I hope you have fun playing this game. My bubble enjoyed guessing who it was so I hope you will too. If you want me to do a game based on a theme with a different k-pop group I will gladly do it. If you dont know any k-pop groups you can check a list out on my k-pop blog. :

Hi bloggers today I went to Whaea Sams workshop and solved an equation. So now she gave us a assignment for the next challenge. The question was. A restaurant allows 30 people at a time. How many tables can hold all 30? I dont remember the question well but it was something like that. Here is my working out:

Subtraction of Fractions.

Hello Fellow bloggers, today kea had a task called " How to ... Challenge. this challenge was to show a skill or hobby you have learned over lockdown. I have made a challenge to show you called Subtraction of fractions. Subtraction of fractions is when you have to subtract the numerator and the denominator. You also have to find the LCM or least common multiple meaning the number closest to it. Here is a tutorial showing you how to solve it.

So my challenge for you is to solve this equation ( this / equals the line in the fraction. )

8  5/4 - 4  8/9 =? Use the steps I showed before - it will help. And for a clue the LCM is 36 because 9 x 4=36 and 4 x 9 = 36.

Nga kare-a-roto i te Maori

Kia Ora bloggers, this week is Maori language week so Kea is learning about Maori traditions and heritage. This time I went to a different workshop learning about feelings in Te Reo Maori. I was in Breakout Tahi with Whaea Sam. We learned some common feelings and how to respond to them. Whaea Sam created a google slideshow to help us learn how to pronounce feelings in Maori.

Today i have put together some slides to make a game. You have to match the feeling in Maori to its emoji. e.g: Hiamoe - You match that to sleepy. I have put the English captions below the emojis so its not hard to tell which emoji is which.

I hope you enjoyed the GIFs at the end. And remember to not use google translate.

Weteri Kura's Pepeha

Hi fellow bloggers, today Kea has Maori Language week. At Maori language week we usually learn about the culture, the origin , the customs, and the history. But since its lock-down Kea had something  different. We had 3 breakouts again - Breakout Tahi learning about feelings by using games and language with Whaea Sam and Mrs Tonga , Breakout Rua learning Waiata's and making up actions for them with Mel and Mr Toala'a, and Lastly Breakout Toru learning about the school's Pepeha with Whaea Ocea and Mulki.

If you attended any workshop from above you have to complete the task so you can get a Maori Language week badge on your blog. You can post your activities anywhere such as on Class dojo or on your blog. I was in Breakout Rua learning about the school Pepeha. We learned some Maori vocabulary and about the school origin. Our task was to either film ourselves repeating the school pepeha , make our own, or draw it.

But do you know what a pepeha is? A pepeha is a way to introduce yourself. It tells other people who you are and where you come from. A pepeha can be written, but usually, you will stand up and say your pepeha in front of everyone at a formal occasion. A pepeha includes names, places, and events that explain where you are from, which family you belong to, and where you fit within your larger family.A pepeha also explains how your family is connected to your local environment. We value the environment because it provides food, water, and shelter – the things that all people need to live. A pepeha is a way of showing that you value the local environment and the important connection you have with the natural world.

I have decided to make my own pepeha showing me origin and my culture. I had to translate Kea's pepeha from Maori to English to understand it. I didn't want to read out my pepeha so i just wrote it on google slides. I copied the template from my previous pepeha in 2020.

Here is the Maori and English version of the Weteri Pepeha

Maori: Ko Puketāpapa te maunga Ko te Auaunga te awa Ko te Manukau me te Waitemata nga tai e rua Ko Tamakimakaurau te rohe Ko Weteri te Hapori Ko Weteri Kura Tihei mauri ora!

English: Puketāpapa is the mountain The Auaunga is the river Manukau and Waitemata are the two coasts Auckland is the region Weteri is the Community Weteri School This is a living soul!

Research about Neptune

Kia Ora Fellow bloggers. Today Kea had a similar task to yesterday. Yesterday I did research and Explanation about Jupiter. But today i'm doing Research and Explanation about Neptune. I sort of did the same thing by making a slideshow presentation on Neptune. I had to use a rang and variety of different websites, articles, and links just so I could make this presentation complete.

I found it easy to gather information and put it together - it wasn't that hard to do anything. Here is a couple of links to articles if you wanna find out more interesting facts about Neptune. I have also include my slideshow. I hope you like it.

Here is the links so a quiz and a article all about Neptune. My challenge for you it to comment your favorite planet and why.

Research about Jupiter.

Hi Bloggers, today Kea has a topic on space and our Solar system. Today we had to investigate about Jupiter. I have put together some facts about Jupiter on a slideshow. But did you know that Jupiter has a total estimation of 67 moons! A little guide to Jupiter is on the slideshow as well.

I found it hard to do the research because it took so long. But it was easy to put all those facts together to make this presentation. Kea had a range of different things to do while researching about Jupiter such as making a presentation, learning about Jupiters Great red Spot, and conducting experiments. I chose to make this presentation because I like researching about different topics and learning new things.

A Journey To Outer Space

Kia Ora Bloggers. Today I have made a slideshow animation. Mr. Margetts, joined our Google Meets to teach us how to make this animation.  I used planets and shapes to construct a journey. My rocket launched from earth, then went to Jupiter, then landed on Mars. It was a bit hard to copy and group the objects but easy to visualize how I wanted the rocket to plan its journey.

What are the elements of sand?

Hello Fellow Bloggers! Today I have another experiment to share with you. This experiment is more of a research. Its called what is sand made of. Thanks to Nanogirl I now know what sand is made of. Before I watched the video I remembered that in my old school  ( American Academy School in Qatar )  we learned what sand is made of. My old school told the students during our science lesson that sand is made of broke-down particles of shells. These shells sometimes break down due to watter pressures or long lifes. Now lets see if this theory is right.

After watching the video I learned that sand isn´t just made of broke-down shells. Its made of a mixture or different particles. Nanogirl ran a magnet through the sand to see if the magnat would attract anything. Surpisingly it managed to pick up this weird black sand. That sand was iron from all the different types of rocks on the beach. Those rocks may have broke down just like the shells.

But I wonder What types of rocks have iron in them to be able to be attracted to the magnet? Thats for me to know and you to find out. I was about to do the experiment but had no sand. But here is the link to Nanogirls Youtube page if you want to learn and do more cool experiments: https://www.youtube.com/c/NanogirlSTEMactivitiesforkids

I hope those facts help you learn a bit about my favourite k-pop groups. If you were to chose I k-pop group I recommend being a ARMY or a Stay. But if you like other k-pop groups i´m not forcing you. K-pop is one of my favorite genres of music. They´re lyrics have deep meaning to it. My favourite song from Bts is Magic shop and Life goes on, and For Stray Kids It has to be Mixtape oh and The Veiw. These are my favorite songs because they have very deep meaning to their lyrics. I recommend you listen to them if you had the time. But here are some kpop facts about me:
____________________________________________________________________________________Who are my Bias: OT7 for Bts and OT8 for Stray Kids ( It means one true 7 or 8 )
My favorite album: Love myself from BTS and NOEASY for Stray Kids.
My favorite song:  Bts is Magic shop and For Stray Kids My pace
My Bias Wrecker: For BTS RM and J-hope and for Stray Kids Seungmin and Han. It is impossible and they are making me rethink my whole bias list.
Why I got interested in k-pop: There music is so powerful and I dont see why people hate it. In my opinion I think k-pop is the best genre of music. But the main reason why I got interested is becuase of the bands backstory and how far they´ve come. I want to make as much memories as possible before they disband.
How did I find BTS and Stray Kids: I just found one of there music videos on my recommended for YouTube and listened to it. It was actually Idol by Bts that I first heard of. Back door by Stray kids was soon found later.  Surprisingly i found it quite soothing. I started to get more and more interested with them and now I stream their music videos nonstop. Then I became an ARMY and a STAY.
What does BTS and SKZ mean to me/ What do I see in BTS and Stray Kids: I see there personalities within their members. They have all become so successful in life. Some members have unsupportive parents or mental illness but I was so glad to see them get through it. I use their qoutes alot as well.
My Favorite k-pop soloist: IU , Somi, and Jessi. I like Iu´s Celebrity song so that got me to know more about her.
Were there any problems for me being a ARMY and a Stay: Only a few. When I found out their disbandation date I was quite shocked. But then there were the bigger problems, Blinks otherwise known as Blackpink Stans; have started to threaten BTS fans. But luckily I wasn´t involved in one of them. Blinks started to spread more rumors about BTS and it really hurt me knowing I couldn´t stop them. Its quite challenging seeing your favorite k-pop group hurt. Hence, It isn´t that hard but its quite deppressing.
When did I get so interested in BTS and Stray Kids: It started about a few months ago, around mid January. I started listen to their songs regularly and became a ARMY and a Stay. For as long as I remember I would always stream their new music videos so that they get as much views as possible.
Why do I only like BTS and Stray Kids: Thats not necessarily true. I like other k-pop groups as well such as Itzy and TXT. But I have one important rule for being a k-pop stan - Stick with your top 2 k-pop groups. Its not that I dont want to stan other k-pop groups its just that I am minimalist. I chose BTS and Stray Kids becuase they stand out to me.
My Favorite K-drama: Meteor Garden. I mean like I just love it becuase of the plot twists, turn of events, and the mysterious characters. But I would reccomend watching it.

Here is some advice from me: Even if you dont want to stan BTS and/or Stray Kids, Go your own path even if  you want to live for a day. ( Those lyrics were by BTS ) Do what makes you happy. And If you find a k-pop group you love and are passionate about, Stan them. Make as many memories as possible before they disband. Stream their new MV´s. Thats what Im trying to do nowadays. Seeing BTS and Stray Kids live their life to the fullest, Make happy memories together, and mature are one of the many things I do as a K-pop Stan.  And don´t forget these wise BTS and Stray Kids qoutes:
BTS qoutes:
  1. Forget what hurt you, but dont forget what taught you.
  2. Now lets forgive ourselves Our lives our long, Trust yourself in a maze, when winter passes, spring always comes
  3. When things get hard, dont give up, stop for a while look back and see how far youv´e come.Don´t forget how rewarding it is. You are most beautiful flower, amongst the millions of others.
  4. Never give up on a dream youv´e been chasing your whole life.
  5. I have come to love myself for who I am, for who I was, and for who I hope to become.
Stray Kids Qoutes:
1. Even if it’s hard and tiring, don’t give up
2Without comparing to others, I’m getting closer to my dream
3. If I fail, I’ll get back up again
4. I don’t wanna get hurt again, so I’m covering my ears and walking on my path
5. I break free from those voices in my head
6. Just because someone is ahead, doesn't mean they are first
Here are the sources of some BTS and Stray Kids qoutes:

From what I said before, there is nothing easy about being a k-pop stan, but just so you know there are some agencies that overwork their idols, put them on haitus, and use them to cover up their scandals. And its not that good to do those things to a k-pop idol. I wish you knew what they went through. But some agencies are quite good to their idols. They let them have vacations regularly, they let them renew their contracts, and they let them be who they want to be. But the funny thing is there are some funny theories and some serios theories of the k-pop industry. One of the funny on is that Hyunjin and Yeji are siblings because they have the first name Hwang. A more serious one is that Momo from Twice comes from a mafia family. But dont take this seriously these are only theories none of them is proven true yet. But I really do belive that Hyunjin and Yeji are siblings. Even though its not true and proven, they do look like twins.
_____________________________________________________________________________________
And I want to tell you about my bias's and bias wreckers. For example my bias in BTS is Ot7 meaning I like all of the members as a bias. But there are some times where some members make me rethink my bias list. If you dont know what a bias is it means 2 things for a k-pop stan : someone you have a similar personality to or some you can relate to. As I said some members just make me rethink my whole bias list because of their amazing personalities. But now if I am a Ot7 for BTS and an Ot8 for Stray Kids, I had to choose a main bias as a multistan. So because I couldn't choose a bias for BTS ( It was so hard because I have similar personalities to them ) But for Stray Kids my main bias is either Han or Seungmin ( it was so hard to chose ). I hope that helps you understand the pressureof having to chose your bias ( hehe )

Lockdown Task 9: Deep Space Network Supercone

Hello Bloggers today Kea had another lockdown task. This task requires a lot of research and crafting. Have you ever heard of a supercone before? A supercone is a object most astronauts use to hear if there is any outer life. Today´s task was to make a D.I.Y Supercone. My supercone was quite easy to make. I have uploaded the slides and article if you want to have a go. The purpose of this is to put it in your ear and hear the different sounds the world around you makes.

Here is a photo of my supercone:

It was fun to take it outside and hear different noises from what our ears hear. But other than that do you know how our ears hear? Its quite a fascinating explaination. Your ears hear all the sounds that are around you. Those sounds turn into vibrations which do inside you ear. Once inside your ear the go to the eardrum which passes them to the 3 bones near your eardrum. Those bones push the vibrations into your choclea which pushes them into the brain. The brains job is to translate the sounds to you. This process happens very quickly. Here is the article link and the slides:
https://spaceplace.nasa.gov/sound-cone/en/ - Article link.

Thank you for reading my blog post. I hope you enjoyed the cycle of your ears as well. My challenge for you is to leave a comment if you have another fun fact about sound waves.

Lockdown Task 8: Making a coded helicopter out of Scratch.

Kia Ora Bloggers! Today we had a complicated task. It was to make our mars helicopter move with scratch! For those of you who dont know what scratch is, Its a coding app which helps you develop coding skills. You have to use the commands to try and make your sprite move. I made my mars helicopter but sadly It didn´t work. I tried again to see if the coding commands were misplaced, but I ended up getting the same result. I found it challenging to try and fix the coding commands, but found it easy for me to lay out the backdrop and the new sprite. I have a slide here if you want to give it a go.

Here is how my scratch coding turned out:

The slide above has a video of instructions so you can make your mars helicopter fly. Thats all for today.

Lockdown task 7 : Digital mars Rover

Kia Ora Fellow Bloggers. Today is another day for Kea´s Distance Learning. But today was quite unique unlike the normal days we have. Kea was just discussing the challenge for today when the teachers showed us a slide with 3 different breakout rooms. Each was with a teacher. The first breakout room was with Mrs Tonga and Whaea Sam. They were doing creative writing. The second breakout room was with Mr Toala and Mrs Mel. They were doing recount writing. And the last breakout room was with Whaea Ocea and Mulki doing comment on dojo/blog.

We each had a chance to choose the breakout room we wanted to go to. I chose to go in the second breakout room. I clicked the link and set off to go to the google meet. When I was there a lot of other student were as well. Mr Toala told us and gave us examples of what we were supposed to do. Then we asked some questions and went back to the main google meet session. There we talked about what we did and how we are going to do it. So now i´m doing 1 of my tasks which is to make another mars rover.

I will try and post the recount later in the day. but for now you can take a look at my mars rover. Here is my Mars Rover. The last time I drew it but today I made it digitally. I found it easy to try and use different shapes, but found it hard to find the right background to match my image.

Here is a description of how I made my rover:
  1. I used a variety of shapes to try and find something to match the base
  2. I found a background that I like and displayed it
  3. Then I coloured in my shapes and added 2 buttons.
So to conclude, that was the end of how I made my rover. I hope you can follow these instructions and make your own rover.

Lockdown Task 6: Paper plane with air propulsion.

Hi Bloggers! Today Kea discussed how planes work. Kea learned that planes use 4 different forces of flight - thrust, drag, weight, and lift. All those combined help an air stay afloat in the air. Today me and Belinda have made a slideshow showing our planes. We made reports, facts, and photos of our plane. It has photos of how it functions an/or works. Here it is:

I found it quite challenging to do some research, but found it very easy to put it together. Ive put together some steps if you want to try to make the same plane as me:
  1. Fold a piece of paper in half horizontally
  2. Take out the fold and make two triangles at the top
  3. When thats done with your two triangles you are gonna folder them one more time. ( On top of each other.
  4. Then fold it back in half and make wings by bending the sides.
  5. Fly your plane. Experiment if you plane fly´s or not.

Lockdown Task 5: 3D Tinkercad Rocket

Kia Ora bloggers! Today we got a special visitor - Andy Crowe! ( No not Andy Crowe the PMP ) Andy taught us how to design a 3D rocket in Tinkercad. I used a variety of different shapes to create my rocket. It was kinda hard to make the bottom part lift up so I could make flames. It was easy for me to create the base and use different angles to place the wings. I had to try to bring the roof of the rocket above the base. My rocket is kind of simple because it was quite challenging. After several attempts I finally got it to be somehow similar to the video. I made rocket boosters so it could fly even faster. But I couldn´t make any flames.

This is how it turned out:

I hope you could make a blog post about rocket you make! This rocket was fun to make and a very special thanks to Andy Crowe for taking off his time to come and teach us how to make rockets on tinkercad! The kea team really appriciates it.

Here is a slideshow with the video if you want to make a rocket too! Go to tinkercad.com:
