Aliteration Poems

 Hi fellow bloggers! Today we learned about aliteration poems. An aliteration poem is when you use one letter as your main word throughout your whole poem. Our challenge was to make an aliteration poem about someone who inspires us. I wrote mine on BTS. This poem signify how much they mean to me. Though through your point of view, they may just be 7 korean boys, but to their fans, they are our family. I've made 2 copies of this poem to show you aliteration and BTS words.

Poem:

Bangtan Sonyeondan. Bright lights, Bighit, Breaking Records with big songs. Went through hardships, now an inspiration to many. Bulletproof boy scouts; all 7. Many backgrounds but one story.They put their blood, sweat, and tears into song for us ARMY's. They give us the best of them. Bangtan may be just BTS to you, But to others, their bulletproof.

Purple = Aliteration    Blue = BTS words.     Green= Both

Fear Factor: Adjectives.

 Kia ora fellow bloggers. Today we were learning all about how we can use adjectives to describe many different things. Adjectives are a type of word used to describe the taste, smell, sound, texture, presence. We had to make a list of different foods to give our parents then let them describe what it taste, smells, and feels like.

Here is what my chart says. ( Tested this on my brother ).

Hyperboles: The worlds best exagerations.

Kia Ora Bloggers! Today is our first day back to online school since we had a 3 day weekend. If I haven't told you before we change our workshops every week. We also choose the winning workshop based on the amount of work they have been producing. Today I am still in waka Tahi - but with another teacher.

Our lesson today was to create our own hyperbole. A hyperbole is a type of exageration used in everyday sentences, songs, poems, and more. An example of an exageration is: It was raining cats and dogs. This refers to when its raining so hard.

Here is my 3 hyperboles. I hope you enjoy.

Unboxing Robert Frost: American Poet.

 Hi fellow veiwers. Today im going to tell you all about Robert Frost the American Poet. Robert frost wrote the Poem " Nothing Gold Can Stay ". He first wrote poems in America then his work was later published in England. Robert Frost was named after Confederate General Rober E. Lee. Here are some fun facts about Robert Frost:

  1. His father was a teacher and later an editor of the San Francisco Evening Bulletin and his mother was a Scottish immigrant. His mother joined the Swedenborgian church (based on the writings of Emanuel Swedenborg) and had him involved in it.
  2.  As a young boy, he loved his mother reading to him and from this, he was inspired to become an accomplished writer. Furthermore, this initiated him to an extensive array of literature,
  3. During his lifetime, he would receive more than 40 honorary degrees, plus, he is the only person who has won the Pulitzer Prize for poetry four times: in 1924, 1931, 1937 and 1943.
  4.  He was the first poet in history to recite a poem at a Presidential inauguration. In 1961, at the age of 87, he was asked to write a poem at the John F. Kennedy inauguration. Although he had written a new poem expressly for the event, he was unable to read it on that day due to the glaring sun. He ended up reciting from memory “The Gift Outright.”

  5.  He and his spouse moved to England in 1912, after they failed at farming in New Hampshire. Moreover, he was not finding success with publishing his poems, therefore, the couple moved to England due to the vast range of publishers. In England, he met and was influenced by Robert Graves and Rupert Brooke.
  6.  He was also introduced to Ezra Pound (an American critic and poet) who helped to promote and publish his work.
  7.  He and his wife Elinor were parents to two sons (Elliott and Carol) and four daughters (Lesley, Irma, Marjorie, and Elinor Bettina). They stayed outside of London, into a cottage in Beaconsfield.
I hope you enjoyed my facts about Robert Frost. He was an amazing Poet but sadly passed away in the late 1800's. My challenge for you is to write a comment about something you know about Robert Frost or one of his poems.

Personification Poetry

 Kia ora bloggers! Today I was so eager to do todays task. It was all about personification poems. Personification is when you write a poem about a non living object to make it feel real. I've made two poems: Spring has fallen and A persons heart ( from someones perspective ).  Here are the recordings of my two poems:

A persons heart: https://watch.screencastify.com/v/N9m0mdZ9ipgi7Ao3UyXy .  ->

 I made the poem " A persons heart " Because I wanted to signify how people get heartbroken. Its ok to be and feel that way. I also wanted to add something in their that said " people deserve a second chance just not for the same mistakes " Meaning that if you have been broken before and you want to trust another person but your too scared. Remember that scars heal. You can trust a person again but if they do they wrong, just have faith and when you will find the right person its yours to be destined.

Spring has fallen: https://watch.screencastify.com/v/bd3GSMoBWir0gKpgkIx4.       ->

I made the poem " Spring has fallen" because I wanted to show 2 things: my love for autumn/fall and how we need to get used to change slowly when the time is right. Sometimes things happen quite quickly and before you know it, its time to let go and say goodbye. I had to do the same. Saying goodbye to my old friends, and my old school was quite hard. But coming here made me feel different. I found new friends but still dont forget about the old. This poem was to signify how you have to leave the past behind but make way for the future; because when there i a down there is a up.

I hope you enjoyed my two poems. I really enjoyed making my poems, It felt as if it was really going to put another outlook on the world.

Density of Water

 Hello Bloggers today was the first day of term 4. We had a 2 week holiday before we all got to do distance learning again. Today's challenge was super exciting. We had to see which water is denser. Since we didn't have freshwater or saltwater we had to use hot water or cold water. We could also use salt or baking soda to make it more fun. But before we get into the experiment - I have to tell you about our new challenges. We have been put into groups/breakouts for the week. We have to earn points by sharing, posting on our blog, and participating.

Im in Group tahi with Whaea Ocea. But onto the experiment, my hypothesis was that the object would float or sink slowly in cold water because it has a density of (32°F/0°C). So my group made a slideshow of our thinking. Here is a photo of my experiment and my slide with thinking:

( Two coins in water; Right hand side is the cold water, and the left hand side is the hot water. )
 So my question for you is what do you think has the better density? And why?
